Q. Why should I hire a professional photographer for my
wedding?
A. After the wedding is over and the guests have gone
home, the photographs will remain. The decorations will
be taken down, the flowers will wilt, your wedding dress
will be stored away, the cake will have been eaten, and
your special day will only be a memory. The photographs
and your new life together are what remains of your
wedding.
Of all of the expenses of your wedding, the only one
that provides something lasting are your photographs. A
professional wedding photographer knows how to cover
your wedding dependably and respectfully.
A good amateur photographer (there are many around) may
be able to get some fine photographs, but photographing
an entire wedding is a skill few amateurs posses. Your
friends may be able to get some unique and very personal
photographs but the professional will cover every
aspect of your wedding.
Professional photo labs provide services that the local
one hour labs don’t.
Let your friends and relatives share your special day
with you. Let them take the photographs that only those
who really know you can. But leave the important
documenting of this one of a kind day to those who have
the skill, experience, and equipment to cover your
wedding as the occasion deserves.
Q. Please explain your “Simple Pricing Plan”
A. Our philosophy is that you should not be overcharged
for your photographs nor should you be subjected to
pricing schemes and contracts designed to increase your
purchases or hide the total cost of your wedding
photographs. We have tried to make our fees
understandable and straight forward
For your wedding fee, we will provide complete coverage
of your wedding. We begin 1½ hours before the wedding
with portraits of the Bride and continue until the end
of the reception.
We provide all needed materials, equipment, and
processing. In return, we will present you with an album
of your wedding (containing at least 100 photographs) as
well as a photo CD and a multi-media DVD video
slideshow. You may choose to keep just these items
without incurring any additional charges or you may
choose to order more prints, fine leather albums, large
canvas mounted photographs for your wall, and much more.
Should you want to order more, just contact us. You pay
only for the photographs and services you order.
*After 4 hours, an additional $50 per hour will be
charged.
We are happy to travel out of the Oklahoma City metro
area. An additional fee of $.35 per mile will be added.
Q. Do you use film or digital cameras?
A. Although we are experienced with both film and
digital methods, Richard Smith Photography now primarily
employs digital image capture. The advances in digital
photography in recent years have resulted in the
practical obsolescence of 35mm film. The larger format
roll film cameras traditionally used for weddings are
still a good option but modern digital SLRs rival them
in quality while permitting much more versatility.
All professional labs now print almost exclusively from
either digital files or scanned film. The days of
putting the original negative in a printer or enlarger
are almost gone. Digital printing provides better image
control, easier editing, and high quality prints on a
more reliable basis.
Q. Do you do black & white photographs?
A. Digital photographs may be printed in either color or
black & white. You may order a black & white print from
any photographs at any time. My first photographic work
was in black & white and I am always happy to provide
black & white services.
Q. Do you have online proofing and ordering?
A. Yes! Your wedding photographs will be posted online
within about 2 days. You may use the link on this web
site to access your wedding photographs. You may also
order on line (prices are slightly higher).
Q. How long will it take to get my photographs?
A. Your photographs will be posted on our web site
within about 2 days. With advance notice, your CD can be
prepared in 2 or 3 days. Your album will take about 2 or
3 weeks.
Q. What is on the CD?
A. Your Wedding CD will contain all (or nearly all) of
the photographs made at your wedding. They will be
presented in two formats; a slide show (with music) and
a browser that will allow you to view your photographs
individually. You will also be able to access the
individual digital files.
The CD contains files that are optimized for viewing on
a computer or e-mailing to friends and relatives.
Additional copies of your Wedding CD are just $50. It’s
a very sensible way to share your wedding with friends
and family!
Q.
How should I take care of my photographs?
A. Keep your photographs out of direct sunlight.. An
album is the safest way to store and view your
photographs, but avoid ones with “magnetic” pages (they
damage photographs) and strong plastic orders. Polyvinyl
chlorides (the plastic order) are harmful to
photographs.
Q. Can I purchase my negatives or full size digital
files?
A. Traditionally most photographers have not sold
negatives for three reasons; they want to control the
printing process so their work is presented at it's
best, they want to store negatives so that they are
protected for the customer and, naturally enough, they
want to continue to profit from their work.
But there are very good reasons to want your negatives
and the digitization of the photographic process has
made it much more realistic for you to maintain your own
negatives.
In short, you can choose to purchase the original, high
resolution digital files (our modern negatives) if you
wish. These are the finished files from which your
original photos are printed. The are archived in a
format that protects the file from data loss.
